Chilkat Lake is located about 30 miles west of Haines, AK in the Chilkat Valley. The Lake is remote with only river access. To get into the lake you have to travel by jet boat or floatplane in the summer and by snowmobile in the winter.
The public road system ends approximately 2 miles from the lake and from there you travel by boat or snowmobile into the lake. There are no public utilities. All food, supplies, materials are brought in by one of the methods above.
Our goal is to highlight Chilkat Lake, its scenic beauty, its wildlife, and a little about the life style. The pages will include things you might see while visiting and they will highlight why we see it as a unique southeast Alaskan experience and place to visit.
Your visit to this site might even inspire you, as it did so many of us, to want to spend some time at the Lake.
